Individual course content can be copied from one semester to another, or from one course section to another. This import does not include past student enrollment or any submissions made to the original course. The import will create a clean version of the course.

\uD83D\uDCD8 Instructions

  1. Log in to FREDLearn at https://fredlearn.fredonia.edu/

  2. Access your course shell. This is the destination course that you will be copying an existing course to.

  3. From the top blue toolbar click the Course Tools menu, then select Course Admin

  4. Under the Site Resources section, select Import/Export/Copy Components

  5. Under the title “What would you like to do?”, select Copy Components from another Org Unit. (This should already be selected by default)

    Select Copy Components from another Org Unit, then click on search for offering to find the course you wish to copy

    1. Under Course to Copy, click Search for Offering

    2. A new window will open. Enter the course name for the course that contains the content.

      1. Enter the course name as the Subject and Number. For example, MATH110. If you would like to narrow down the search you can enter in the year and semester abbreviation, example 2023FA.

        1. Make sure you have selected the course from the appropriate semester that you wish to copy content from before continuing.

        2. Semester abbreviations are Fall = FA, Spring = SP, Summer = SU, JTerm = WI

      2. Select the course that contains the content to be copied, then click Add Selected

      3. Press the Select Components button.

  6. Choose individual components to copy by checking the box to the left of the activity. Also fill in the bubble for Select individual items to copy. In this example, the user is copying an individual discussion from one course section to another.

  7. Press Continue.

  8. Select the Discussion Forums and Topics to Copy. Here the user has the option to Select All or select individual discussions. Press Continue.

  9. Confirm Components to Copy. Press Finish to begin the copy process.

  10. When copying process ends you will see the message Copy Completed with the date and time.
