Microsoft 365 Org Explorer: Viewing SUNY Fredonia's Official Organizational Charts and Reporting Structures
Overview
Microsoft 365 Org Explorer is the primary tool used by SUNY Fredonia to view official university organizational charts. It provides a dynamic, interactive view of reporting structures, departments, and personnel relationships across campus. Org Explorer is automatically updated using data from the SUNY Human Resources (“SUNY HR”) system, ensuring that information stays current.
Because updates depend on processing timelines, which includes COS approvals. Once information is approved for the HR system, slight systemic processing delays may occasionally occur before changes appear in Org Explorer. These delays are normal, and your patience is appreciated.

Why SUNY Fredonia Uses Org Explorer
Primary source for org charts — This is the official, campus‑wide method for viewing organizational structure.
Dynamic updates — Charts refresh automatically based on HR data.
Consistency — Ensures all departments reference the same authoritative information.
Security — Access is tied to your Microsoft 365 account.
Data Source, Accuracy, and Timing
Org Explorer pulls its information directly from SUNY Fredonia’s HR system. Because of this:
Job titles, reporting lines, and department assignments are kept current.
Updates occur automatically when HR processes personnel changes.
No manual chart maintenance is required by departments.
However, due to normal processing timelines, there may occasionally be slight delays between when HR updates data and when those changes appear in Org Explorer. These delays are typically short, and your patience is appreciated while updates propagate.
It is also important to note that another limitation is that the org chart cannot show users who fill multiple roles at the University.
If something appears incorrect or out of date, HR can verify and assist.
