Turnitin Originality

Turnitin originality is Fredonia’s originality checker and plagiarism detection tool for student files submitted through a Turnitin drop box, or a Brightspace Assignment which has Turnitin enabled. The tool works by comparing the text in student file submissions to Turnitin’s database. This database contains previously submitted papers (from Fredonia and other institutions), published papers, open-source publications and numerous internet resources. A “similarity report” is then produced which highlights areas of the submitted paper that match content in Turnitin’s database.

Turnitin Originality is free for both instructors and students, both of whom have access to the similarity report, provided the instructor makes it available to students.
