Adding a VIA Link to OnCourse

Use the steps below to create a link in OnCourse to the VIA "In Progress" page.

Step-by-step guide

To create an "External link" in OnCourse to VIA

1. Login to OnCourse
2. Access the course by selecting the link from the Courses block
3. In the top right-hand corner of the main course page press the "Turn editing on" button 
4. In the Course Information area click the "Add an activity or resource" link
5. From the menu of activities, choose "External tool". The page refreshes and brings you to the settings of the activity.
6. Enter a name in the Activity name" field. Suggested name is VIA In Progress Dashboard.
7. From the "Preconfigured tool" drop-down menu choose "Automatic, based on tool URL"
8. Paste the In Progress URL into the "Tool URL" field
   1. The In Progress URL is https://www.vialivetext.com/lti/sso/inprogress
9. Press the "Save and return to course" button at the bottom of the page
