First-Year Student Forgiveness is an academic policy designed for students who get off to a difficult start in their first or second semester because they were not in a major that best suited them. To be eligible for First-Year Student Forgiveness, the student must have changed his/her major and demonstrated at least one semester of academic improvement. The application should be completed with the help of the student’s academic advisor and must be received prior to the completion of 50 credits. Forgiveness should only be requested for courses that were taken to satisfy program requirements that no longer apply. General education courses and electives will not be forgiven and should be repeated as appropriate. Forgiveness can be requested for courses that satisfied both a program requirement and a general education requirement.
