What is Grackle?

Grackle is an accessibility tool for Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Grackle can be used to check documents for accessibility and provide tips on how to make content more accessible. Grackle is licensed and available to all Fredonia faculty, staff, and students. Grackle can be installed within Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides individually from the Google Workspace Marketplace.

Installing Grackle in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides:

  1. Open Google Docs, Sheets, Slides

  2. At the top of the screen in the Menu bar, select “Extensions” menu, then “Add-ons” and “Get add-ons”.

  3. In the Google Workspace Marketplace window, search for “Grackle Docs” (for Google Docs), “Grackle Sheets” (for Google Sheets), or “Grackle Slides” (for Google Slides)

  4. Install the add-on and accept all prompts. Make sure you are logged in to your Fredonia Google account.

  5. Once complete, under “Extensions” menu, Grackle Docs, Sheets, or Slides will be at the bottom of the menu.

NOTE: Grackle must be installed in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides individually. Grackle Docs for Google Docs, Grackle Sheets for Google Sheets, and Grackle Slides for Google Slides. The instructions below are the same for installing on all Grackle add-ons.

Using Grackle in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides:

When using Grackle, select “Launch” under the Grackle add-on menu. Detailed articles on how to utilize Grackle and its reports can be found below:
