How to use the control panels in the learning spaces

Across campus, there are several different Extron control panels installed. Please find the picture of the panel you need to learn. Below each set of pictures you will find instructions for use.

Extron Touch Panel Start Screen Button

  1. To turn the system ON, press the button above “Press here to start”. You will see a splash screen on the control panel to wait as the projector powers on. Laser projectors power up much quicker (15-25 seconds) compared to bulb based projectors. (1-2:30 minutes) You may not be able to make any input selections while the system is powering up. Some classrooms have motorized projection screens that will come down automatically. You may also have to pull the projection screens down manually.

  2. Select the source you wish to display. Note that most rooms default to the PC input when powering on as this is the most common input source.
    - PC: This is for the supplied computer in the classroom. You would login with your eServices credentials.
    - HDMI : This is for a laptop connection or any HDMI outputting device.
    - Blu-ray: You may have to power on the Blu-ray player by pressing it’s power button. There are remote
    controls for these devices on the teacher stations.
    - DocCam: You may have to power on the document camera by pressing the power button.
    - Share-Link: Some spaces are equipped with Extron’s share-link, which allows wireless connectivity of devices to the AV system.

  3. To MUTE the video to the projector, press the “Video Mute” button. Press again to unmute.

  4. To MUTE the audio to the speaker, press the “Audio Mute” button. Press again to unmute.

  5. Volume UP/DOWN controls the audio level to the speakers. ***It is best practice to leave the computer volume at or near 100% and use the volume control level on the panel. This is how the audio gain structure is designed and how it will sound it’s best.***

  6. To turn the system OFF, press the “System Shutdown” button. Please do not leave the system running regardless of who is in after you.

  7. Turn OFF the lights to the classroom.

    - Wall Plate (if available): You can connect either HDMI or VGA if the classroom is equipped. Select the corresponding button on the panel.
