In an effort to maintain a secure computing environment and to adhere to industry recognized standards and best-practices, Fredonia’s Password Security Standards included the following:

  • Prevents reuse of 24 previous passwords

  • Not contain the user's account name or parts of the user's full legal name that exceed two consecutive characters

  • Be at least 12 characters in length

  • Contain characters from three of the following four categories:

    • English uppercase characters (A through Z)

    • English lowercase characters (a through z)

    • Base 10 digits (0 through 9)

    • Non-alphabetic characters (for example, !, $, #, %)

  • Complexity requirements are ONLY enforced when passwords are changed or created.

These Password Security Standards will help protect Fredonia’s systems and end-users from having their eServices accounts and data compromised.
