Allowing others to edit your Panopto videos

You may wish to allow other people at Fredonia to edit your videos on Panopto. Follow these steps to get started:

Instructions

  1. In order to edit a video on Panopto someone needs the “Creator” permission. This needs to be set at the Folder level. Let’s add a folder to put our videos in. Look for the “Add folder” option

    Add folder
  2. Enter a name for the folder and press Enter

Provide a name for the new folder
  3. In that folder click the Settings gear in the upper-right corner

  4. Before we can set permissions for other people to be Creators we need to stop inheriting permissions. Under “Who can access this folder” click Change next to Inherited

  5. Uncheck “Inherit members and permissions from” and click Save

  6. Now you can add additional people as creators. In the drop-down list switch from “Viewer” to “Creator”

  7. Search for someone to add as an editor

  8. Now we can move videos into this folder to allow editing. In this example we can see there is only one editor with the Creator permission before we move it to our editing folder

  9. Select the video from the list by checking the checkbox and then click Move

  10. Select the folder you wish to move the video file to and then click Move

  11. Now the permissions have changed and we have two editors with the Creator permission
