Acrobat Chapter 5: Using Other Languages

How do I make accessible tags in Adobe Acrobat?

 Instructions

Section 5.1: Changing the Language for a Set of Text

If your document contains any language changes (for example, a sentence or passage in a different language than the document language), you must specify this. To do this, you’ll use the Object Properties dialog in the Tags Pane.

If the passage stands alone in a block-line element such as a paragraph, you’ll apply the language change to that block-line tag.

If it’s an inline language change, such as just one sentence within a paragraph, you’ll need to wrap it in a <Span> tag first, and then apply the language change to the Span tag.

  1. Open the Tags Pane.

    Tags Pane in Adobe Acrobat.
  2. Right click the tag that matches the content with the language change.

The Paragraph tag is highlighted. The text underneath is in French.
  3. Select Properties.

  4. In the Objects Properties box, select the Language from the drop down menu and click close.
