How to View Overall Grades
Need a video guide? Check out this video about the Grades Tab in FREDLearn.
On the course homepage, click on My Performance, located on the blue toolbar. Then select Grades.
On the Grades tab you will find:
Final Calculated Grade, which is the total grade for the course, including the points earned, and letter grade
The instructor controls which types of information is displayed. Contact the instructor if you are not seeing what you expect.
A table with all graded assignments, quizzes, tests, projects, and more. These grades are split up by section, which are set by the instructor.
Grades Table
Grade Item Column: This column shows each section of the course. It also shows the name of the assignment/quiz/project/etc.
Points Column: This column shows how many points were earned on each item out of the total number of points available
Weight Achieved Column: This column also shows the weighted grade for each item. In the table above, exams are worth 50%, so the row named Exams will be out of 50 points. This will weigh exams properly as worth 50% of the final calculated grade.
Note that Weight Achieved and Points scores are mathematically equivalent
Grade Column: This column shows the letter grade for each item. It also shows the overall letter grade for each section of the course.
Note that letter grades can vary for different courses. Corresponding letter grades and percentage grades can usually be found in the syllabus for each course.
Additional Details
Dropped Items: Grades that are dropped will still display the grade achieved on that assignment in the Grade Column, although this grade will not be factored into your final grade, or your grade for that section.
A dropped item will be denoted by the word “Dropped!” in red.
Dropped items will also have a grey circle with an exclamation mark in it. Clicking on this will show what section this grade is dropped from.
Exempt Items: Items can also be exempted. This can happen for multiple reasons. For example, an instructor may have two different assignments, but only one needs to be completed. Exempted assignments can also be seen in the grades section.
Exempted items will be denoted with word exempted in italics and parentheses.
For exempted items, the Points and Weight Achieved sections will show blank scores, and the Grade section will say Exempt.
The grades tab shows all of your grades in one table. If you would like to see your grades split up by section, check out these articles about the Quizzes Tab and Assignments Tab in FREDLearn.
